Basically, no real difference from FIVE~ However the number -really- doesn't mean anything. For those who don't know, Oricon chooses 400 random subscribers from 4 age groups (100 per group of teens, 20s, 30s, and 40s) and has them rate the upcoming releases based on what they would purchase. Most people thought it maxed out at 400 points but apparently some popular acts get 500+ NINKIs.

[Ranking] 14.01.2012 Ayu Ranks No. 1 as The Best Selling Japanese Solo Female Artist of All Time

According to recent Music Station episode, Music Station has crowned Ayu as the best selling female artist in Japanese music industry.

She ranks no. 1 with approximately 49,780,000 units sales in her entire career.

[Ranking] 26.08.2011 What’s Your Favorite Song By Hamasaki Ayumi?

Recochoku recently revealed the results of its latest group of rankings, asking users to choose their favorite songs by beloved pop singer Hamasaki Ayumi.

The ranking was split into three different categories, each describing a different aspect of the famous singer. The first is a lyric ranking, where users picked a song whose lyrics they most sympathized with. Coming in first place for this list is the title track of her first album, “A Song for XX“. Both male and female users responded that they could relate to the themes of insecurity as a young person. Despite being released in 1999, “A Song for XX” continues to be one of her most popular songs.

The second ranking is “The Ayu song you want to hear in the summer”, and was easily dominated by her sunny 2006 track “BLUE BIRD“. The PV for “BLUE BIRD” features Ayu singing cheerfully on a beautiful white beach, perfectly fitting the summer atmosphere of the upbeat song.

Lastly, Recochoku asked users to rank which Ayu song made them cry the most. Since releasing the song “Days” in 2008, Hamasaki has continued to perform the song at concerts with her dancer Syu-ya, who helps paint a sad story that elicits tears from both Ayu and her fans.

[Ranking] 25.12.2010 CM-Tie Up Artists 2010 Top 20 Ranking !

It seems that Ayu is still doing fine in the year 2010!

 

Based on the research or investigation by MEDIADATA BANK PLANTECH ltd. shows that Ayu has acquired the 4th on the position of 2010 CM TIE UP ( voting way : television advertising for CM SONG has got its accumulated number )

Even though she doesn't really have a lot of CM Tie-ups but her tie-up with companies like softbank mobile, Lumix FX66 & ZEST SPARK Honda are quite successful!

[Oricon] 11.12.2010 Ayu Ranks No. 7th In Total Sales For 2010

Values are in millions of yen.

Ayu sold about 2.83 billion yen worth of CDs/DVDs this year. 678 million yen came from singles, 1.3 billion yen from albums, and 866 million yen from live DVD sales.

Ayu placed 7th for the year. Arashi was 1st with a whopping 16.8 billion yen in sales! I think she counts as the top solo female artist if Ikimonogakari is counted as a female-led band. Not sure. Pretty impressive considering she's been around the longest out of most of these acts

[Ranking] 17.09.2010 Recochoku Latest Ranking: The Most Suitable To Wear A Wedding Dress

The wedding season starting in the Fall, On 17th September, Recochoku has released the result of users' voting, "The artists who look good in the wedding dress" ranking.

The artist who collects the most votes is Ayumi Hamasaki, who is popular among the fans with "M", in which she's wearing the dress on Music Video, TV and Live performance. It's the image of "Ayumi Hamasaki's dress" that seems to be established. The internet user said, "it's fascinated for me to see the variety of dresses during Live", "looks like a doll in pretty white dress", and the other comments are received.

The rest are Kana Nishino, Kaela Kimura, Namie Amuro followed the ranking. Top 10 are seleceted because the artists are ranked in three categories:

On yesterday's Music Station Special, for the 2 hours straight, it's been announced this year's top 40 Best Selling Artists In Japan. Last year, Ayu was still in Rank no. 4 and for this year, she climbed up to the no. 3 as one of the Best Selling artists in Japan with total sales of 49 Million Yen almost hit 50 Million Yen.
