[News] 29.01.2012 Dancer GO-MI Graduates from A-TROUPE

GO-MI, another one of Ayu's oldest and well-known dancers, has graduated from A-TROUPE. Read his message below:

New Year’s Greeting and Announcement
6 January 2012.

Happy New Year for 2012, 24th year of Heisei.

How did everyone spend their New Year’s? I returned to my old home after 18 long years, and spent a heartwarming New Year’s with my family.

First, an announcement I’ve already made via Twitter. Hamasaki Ayumi’s 2011 POWER OF MUSIC TOUR was my last time standing on ayu-chan’s stage. I’ve graduated.

I’ve received many warm messages via Twitter and this blog, and I’m really thankful for them.

I am sorry for not announcing this when the tour concluded on 19 October, that I wouldn’t be performing for Countdown Live. I feel really guilty for not talking about CDL and not replying all the messages encouraging me to “work hard at rehearsals”.

When I was 26, I took part in ayu-chan’s first tour. 12 years have since passed in no time, full of wondeful, memorable scenes. But as a 38-year-old now, this life no longer provides me with the urge to renew myself.

I was a victim of the Hanshin Earthquake Disaster, which struck when I graduated from my 3 years in university. Friends lost their lives, and caused a strong feeling of “I must spend my life doing what I really want to do!” to grow within me. Thus, I pursued a dance career.
When I was 23, I came to Tokyo. My days were filled with part-time jobs and dance lessons, and though it was tough, thinking back now makes me realize that they were the best and most fulfilling days I’ve had. I was still full of youthful energy then.
When I was around 25, I became skilled enough to take on jobs as a dancer. At 26, I went for an audition for ayu-chan’s troupe. The audition then was held by Peco-san, and I really thank her for giving me that chance to enter the troupe.
And, from then until now, I have devoted my entire life to dancing in the troupe.

I know that I should be grateful for this opportunity to be able to pursue what I want, but if I continue here for another 12 years, I’ll be 50. This time, I want to have a new vision for the next 12 years, and so I decided to graduate.

ayu-chan, all the staff, all the dancers past and present, band members; I thank you from my heart.

When the Tohoku Earthquake Disaster struck last year, my heart was terribly shaken, just like when the Hanshin Earthquake Disaster occurred. I had a vague wish to “do something” to help. I can choose to stay where I am, or to create my own place. To do things my own way. To take responsibility. To be useful to others. To do good… The earthquake stirred up all these thoughts in me once again.

Not a full year has passed since the earthquake, and I wish to treasure these feelings which have developed during this period.

I won’t quit dance, but maybe it has gone down on my list of priorities??
I still want to learn ballet, and I’ve fallen in love with teaching dance to others. I also wish to perform at club events.

I also finally got my fortune told! I’ll update more on this next time!

And then, actually, I am in the process of opening a store. It’s still a secret now, but it’ll be open by spring.

Same as everyone else, I’ll be going down to support ayu-chan at her tour this year.

I have so much more to say, but I will update Twitter and this blog again.

[Review] 26.08.2010「A3D ayumi hamasaki ARENA TOUR 2009 A ~NEXT LEVEL~」Full Review Translation


These last few years, there have been a continuing flow of so many movie genres that have been introduced to 3D.

It is not known if this will get into that flow, but dare I say it, this is the first time a music concert has put the 3D system to the text, so this time I will introduce 「A3D ayumi hamasaki ARENA TOUR 2009 A ~NEXT LEVEL~」.

This work, which is the product of 3D-ifying Hamasaki Ayumi's 2009 Arena Tour, is of course a must watch for any fan, but for someone in the delicate situation, like this writer, who thinks "I listen to Hamasaki Ayumi sometimes, but I don't know all of the songs, and I have never gone to her concert," how much can they actually enjoy of this concert? I think there are many people worried about this, so I will write this report.

The first thing to think about is the effects of 3D. That, and the fact that recently some movies have been getting into that boom, and have 3D just because it was added last minute. If that's the case, then there is really no meaning to watch this at the theater. If it's really the case that it was meant to be in 3D all along, then from the very beginning they would have went to great lengths to present the camera work in 3D.

With that meaning, I can say that this piece has reached that level in it's 3D work. Of course it's really impressive when the performer approaches the camera, but the fact that the camera really reaches into the audience seating, really makes us feel like we are in the actual audience, the depth is that great. The MC is also more or less cut, so it's NICE. Maybe it's possible for DVD, but for this composition, it's best if the entire thing was in one fell swoop, as opposed to taking it in one breath at a time.

The catchphrase "If you reach out your hand, Ayu will be there," is a little overkill, but this has become something that, if you consider that she used 5 of only 20 - 30 3D cameras available in JAPAN, then it's a movie that has a greater spirit inside of it than expected.

Although you can say that, I think it's a bit wrong to say "It's so great because it's 3D." It's because this movie's charm is mostly because of the stage created through the uncommon talent of Hamasaki Ayumi.

Because of that, rather the reason to recommend this piece becomes: "So you can watch the concert at the theater." The sound and big screen effect that only comes from the Theatre, if you think about it, is the best environment for a simulated concert experience.

Of course, for those who do not listen to Hamasaki Ayumi ever, it might be a bit difficult, but if you listen to Hamasaki Ayumi to any extent, it's probably exactly like a real easy concert experience.

As Hong Kong fans heard Ayu was coming to Hong Kong, the air port was a big mess!

(0:20): bo jeh was extremely cheerful and extremely happy but the most funny part about what happened in the airport was Ayumi was helping someone pick up their shoes??

(0:41): as exhausting as this looks, bo jeh finally got out of the air port, however the first destination wasn’t the hotel?

(1:00): Bo jeh was shopping in “Jin sha joi” for 2 hours and finally went back into the hotel to rest.

I dunno, but I think this video is defiantly out of synced. Because everything the reporter says, it not the exact same thing what the video is showing, and it seems like the video is movie slowly.

Pop diva Ayumi Hamasaki first day in Hong Kong was a real excitement. As she finished shopping in Jin sha joi (that’s the Hong Kong place pronounced you could say I guess) she went straight to the Hotel and rested for a bit, not long later a fully changed Ayumi came out of the Hotel to get ready to have some dinner, but she didn’t want to ignore her fans that were waiting outside of the hotel, so she took a few photos and signed autographs before leaving, everybody got their turn one by one everybody was happy and cheerful.

(0:38) Around 7pm Ayu went to “Jung wan” restaurant to have their meal. A very important manager arrived there (lam kin wok) I wonder if he and ayu had a meeting there? Was Ayu’s secret in Hong Kong had something to do with Lam kin wok? Who knows?
(0:54)Two famous Hong Kong super stars were also near the restaurant and and passing by, as they hear Ayu was nearby they were really happy and was looking around to see where she was.

Two girls: “Oh ban kay bo is here??”

The first thing the report says was “bo jeh” needed bodyguards to pick her up out the car…. (even though it was showing her coming out of the air port) lol… seriously…

The all important diva Ayumi Hamasaki looks like she was holding an Iphone 4 to take pictures of her fans. With hundreds of fans surrounding her while moving out of the airport, not being mad at all to her fans, she was instead really happy and was waving and shaking fans hands.

Wow, someone even took her shoes off while chasing Ayu. Oh wait, who’s this? What??? Ayu helping someone pick up their shoes?? And asked whos it was?? Surprised!

Now coming out of the cab, with bodyguards surrounding. Oh my?? Really?? She needed to be picked up out of the car, not necessary. Just so her long dress doesn’t get wet. I guess this is what it’s like to be all important (I really don’t understand the last few words the report says about all important and all but its close enough to what I put down, I had to ask my mum ¬.¬ ahha)

With the fake wig, Ayu continues shopping constantly in (somewhere in Hong Kong) every time she comes out of a certain shop, of course there would be many fans and reporters waiting for her.

After shopping for 2 hours, she finally left. As she arrived outside the hotel, there was 50 fans waiting for her and she would quickly sign auto graphs and take photos with fans.

Wahhh Ayumi is so sweet, a little drizzle of rain waiting for ayu is all worth it!

Pop diva Ayumi Hamasaki arrived at Hong Kong today. Avex Trax asked people in Hong Kong to pick Ayu and her body guards up.

This of course attracted many fans in Hong Kong and has gotten them all waiting for Ayu to come out of the Airport.
Before “Bo jeh” even got out of the air port, you could already hear fans constantly calling out her name. As Ayu came out of the air port she was full of happiness and smiled towards all her fans at the air port and was happily and willingly shaking fans hands and receiving their presents.

Because of all this excitement, someone even lost their shoes and pop diva Ayumi Hamasaki was being very helpful and picked them up for someone.

As she left the airport, Ayu went straight to Tsim Sha Tsui to go shopping, of course Ayu coming out of the car, she must come out in style, as she got out the car, a bodyguard was picking her up so she doesn’t get the end of her dress dirty. Not only did she have body guards surrounding her while she was walking in the streets, but also bodyguards already inside the shopping centre for her safely and she was able to sign a few autographs before shopping.

As Ayu was very kind hearted, she would sometimes stop her shopping and sign autographs and continue shopping, and the same routine would happen for the past 2 hours. Ayu was very polite towards her fans.

Ayu is staying in Hong Kong for 3 days, it looks like the bodyguards still has plenty of work to do.

reporter said Ayu coming to Hong Kong makes Hong Kong fans really happy. Around June the 28th Diva Ayumi Hamasaki arrives at Hong Kong at 1pm in the afternoon as the princess was wearing a long dress with a fake gold wig that attracted hundreds of fan.

Not much space to move around but seeing so many fans came to visit Ayu, Ayu would think it’s not a big deal and is very use to this media but she would still keep smiling towards her fans.

Around 2pm Ayu took a cab to Tsim Sha Tsui to go shopping. Due to the heavy rain, Ayu didn’t want her dress to get wet and the bodyguard would have to pick her up to get out of the car.

As Ayu went into the shopping centre, she was already looking at the big brands and helping herself with all kinds of luxuries (I really don’t think that’s true, just the way they say it I guess).

As many fans and reporters still following her and surrounding her around the shopping centre, she still brings up her usual smile and waves at all her fans and would sometimes go up to them to receive presents from fans, sign autographs, take pictures with fans and handshake them.

Seeing all this performance from Ayu, the most important thing we have to notice here is what she was carrying as she came out of the airport. Yes you guessed it, the new iphone 4. This is what you would call fashionable.

When you hear the report say “bo jeh” in Cantonese it pretty much means Ayu in english lol.
Ayu’s full name in Cantonese is “bun kay bo” as it’s pronounced.

Lately, I've... Scratch that, not lately, I've noticed from a while back (I've tried to make this line as english as possible, to capture the feeling.)
The desire to rule, and the will to monopolize is strong, I know, but,
Hey, didn't we hear this from so long ago?

If we're awake, then why don't we make it into a better story where we won't yawn,
However, that brave, martial story... (I don't really know how to translate into english this one.)

[Scans] ViVi Deji Deji Diary Collection vol. 1-10 Part 1

Well, Well, our lovely friend of AHS, Misa-chan decided to make translations of all the ViVi Deji Deji Diaries right from the first volume until the very latest, and we know that it'll be a lot of hard work to do! So let's cheer for Misa-chan to do it! and we're so grateful that we have such great friend who's willing to spend so much time to translate all the Deji Deji Diaries which can make us understand and appreciate Ayu even more. Ganbatte, Misa-chan!

Since the scans are only available until vol. 10 so far, I'll update more when I get the translations until vol. 20 for Part 2 :)

Bea's UP Magazine January 2010 Article Translation

The songstress who celebrated her tenth anniversary, still continued running through 2009 without pause. Her skin transparently white like snow and big eyes that seem to take in everything they see... That appearance and way of life still exist without change.

Ayu, who has been on this stage for a long time, looks back at this year.



The things Ayu gained from her record-breaking tour.


The footprints Ayumi Hamasaki left behind in 2009 were incredible. In this magazine’s 2009 April number, she gave an interview for the beginning of the year and said, “Because it was the turning point of my tenth anniversary, I thought I would continue leisurely at my own pace, but I have to keep running after all.” She, in accordance with those words, went on an unimaginable tour from April to October as the first solo female artist to gather 300.000 people in 12 cities with 35 performances.

Furthermore, she performed at her label’s live event a-nation, which included 42 performances and gathered 600.000 people. If you look at live and rehearsal time, 2009 was a year through which she kept running together with her surrounding staff and fans. Looking back, she says, “When I am asked about my impressions of this tour, I answer that it was long and surprising, but this year truly felt long (laughs)”. However, she comments that because she came into long contact with her fans, she has discovered new things. “The tour was a long journey, but I also had time; there were lots of times where I could feel or think. And, there were also times to reflect on what I thought. That’s why, the stage changed a lot from the tour’s first to the last day. During this tour, it was also the first time I constructed a set solely for the sake of rehearsing. Up until now, while talking to the staff about how to do things, I let them complete it, but this time I took my time and could revise and create things. Because of the true importance of meeting with lots of my fans and because there were lots of chances to listen carefully, this could be realized and new discoveries were made.”

During the long journey that took about a year, how did Ayu maintain her motivation, physical condition and physical strength? As the party’s chairman who leads the long journey, Ayu talks about the challenge of maintaining the motivation of the people around her.

“After having decided on the 2009 tour, I started a full-blown physical training. Because my foundation of physical strength and metabolism improved considerably, I wasn’t effected much by physical fatigue. Thanks to the habit, that I had before the tour and even now, to always run about 10 km, I think I have become more energetic than anyone else this year. Going on steadily from the launch of the tour until the final date, I always woke up the earliest the next morning. The people around me would say, “you’re so energetic~” (laughs). As for the mental part; it would be alright if only I strained myself a little. But, because it was truly a long journey, it was tough to constantly keep the motivation and physical strength of the staff, band and dancers the same with each other. By overseeing everything more than usual, I could stay calm. There must certainly be no injuries of accidents to the staff and members.”


My skin benefited a lot from increasing my metabolism.


Ayu, whose metabolism and physical strength has improved by running and training. She comments there has also been a change in her beauty regime.

“In the past, I almost wore no make-up during off or private times. I wonder if currently the amount and frequency of me using foundation has decreased. That’s because metabolism has become important to me. I didn’t know much about skin care originally, but because Banchou (Ayu’s nail artist) knew a lot about it, I tried it out after listening to her. I wonder whether I was the type who preferred not to spoil her skin too much.”

The rehearsal for the Countdown Live was waiting immediately after 2009’s long journey. We asked Ayu, who works without a single break, about her winter memories.

“Honestly, I don’t have many Christmas-like memories since I’m always busy with live rehearsals for the end of the year and with the recording of TV shows... But whenever I see snow, my spirit is lifted (laughs). If a lot of snow will pile up, I definitely want to build a snowman and have a snow fight with everyone. Actual memories...Several years ago, when I was alone in my room and casually looked outside during the morning, snow had piled up magnificently and I went out to the terrace. But then, there were strange footprints in the snow... I called my manager and also the police and there was a lot of commotion, but in the end they were the footprints of a dear friend of mine...(laughs). My memories of the snow might be surprisingly unromantic.”

This time Ayu has released a double A single filled with sad ballads. Please listen to them this season. She managed to compose not easily expressed feelings perfectly. And together with ‘RED LINE ~for TA~’, she’ll release three new songs.

“Aside from expressing myself via lyrics, I’ve also used things like jargon and metaphors. ‘You were...’ is straightforward but in ‘BALLAD’ I chose sugar-coated words.” Because Ayu knows the importance of moving forward more than anyone else, she can face new challenges. That charm increases steadily with each passing year. Confidence and anxiety, experiences and challenges; they all allow Ayu to keep changing. And without even a moment of rest, Ayu will once again travel to meet her fans in 2010.
